financial assistance

Since the statistics program is administered by the University Statistics Committee which is not a department of the University of Utah, each student must seek financial assistance directly through the Department in which the student is admitted.

The following is some general information of available support from the departments cooperating in the statistics program. More specific information may be obtained from the appropriate departmental representative of the University Statistics Committee. The Department of Mathematics usually supports one student in the statistics program as a teaching assistant.

The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine operates a Health Research Center which sometimes employs biostatistics students.

The Department of Management and the School of Business have limited financial aid resources. However, many students work as teaching assistants and grade papers or meet in tutorial sesssions with students taking the required quantitative sequence for business undergraduates. A few are able to obtain part-time work with the Bureau of Economic and Business Research.

The Department of Economics supports a few graduate students as teaching assistants for their courses. The students apply directly to the Department of Economics.

The Department of Educational Psychology offers a few teaching assistantships.

The Department of Sociology offers a few teaching assistantships.
