SPECIAL NOTICE: The undergraduate computing labs are closed during all quarter and semster breaks, and on all official University holidays. When those holidays fall on a Friday or a Monday, the labs will be closed for that three-day weekend.
The workstations will still be accessible over the net, and via the campus-wide and departmental modem pools, but Building 129 and the labs therein will be locked.

These hostnames each reach the currently-least-loaded of several machines in the indicated architecture class. The largest laboratory, with 30 workstations, uses the Sun systems, and those machines are the only ones with all of the major statistical software packages.
The xserver machines are the main servers for interactive jobs in the undergraduate laboratory. They should not be used for long-running batch jobs. They are all configured with 512MB RAM, but no additional swap space on disk, to prevent swapping from degrading interactive response.
Batch processing needs should be met by saetta (3 CPUs, 2GB RAM) and hpserver (5 CPUs, 32MB--192MB RAM).
