Singular perturbation analysis of elasticity problems in non-homogeneous media with wavy cracks by Alexander Movchan, University of Bath, UK AEB350, 3:15pm Monday, April 15, 1996 Abstract Asymptotic analysis will be presented for elasticity problems concerning out-of-plane perturbations of plane cracks. The study addresses both 2D and 3D cracks. Quasi-static growth of a crack is considered in a plane containing defects (inclusions or cavities), and the crack path is specified analytically. The results of the asymptotic analysis are compared with the experiment and with the numerical data existing in the literature.
