Relaxation and Computation for Structural Optimization by Bob Palais JWB 335, 3:10pm Monday, November 20, 1995 Abstract This talk will consider the optimal control problem of arranging materials to optimize the rigidity of the resulting body under specified loading. Analytical techniques including quasi- convexification and homogenization, and computational strategies including mixed direct and iterative finite element solvers and local grid refinement will be discussed.
