Critical points of some non-coercive functionals and sub-harmonic solutions by Klaus Schmitt Department of Mathematics, University of Utah JTB 110, 3:30pm Monday, April 19, 1999 Abstract There are many variational tools for determining the existence of critical points of functionals, e.g. minimization techniques, saddle point theorems, mountain pass results. In the lecture I shall discuss results about critical points for functionals which are not necessarily coercive and give several applications to nonlinear pde's including results about periodic and sub harmonic solutions of some nonlinear oscillators.
