Announcements:
- (12/7) You can pick up 4th midterm exam (and solutions) on Friday, 8th Dec, between noon and 13:00 from Y.P.'s office JWB 305.
- (12/6) The final exam is set on Monday, Dec 11, 6-8PM in the same room.
- (12/4) There will be a problem on explicit computation of Jordan normal form in the fourth midterm exam, roughly at the same level of difficulty as problems in the PDF file below.
- (12/1) A computational strategy of Jordan Normal Form can be found here.
- (11/27) The class has decided to have the 4th midterm exam on Wednesday, 6th Dec (the last day of the class).
- (11/6) The third midterm is set on Wednesday 15th Nov.
- (10/25) The third midterm exam will be moved to a later date.
- (9/24) The second midterm exam is set on Wednesday, 4 Oct, during the usual class time.
- (9/8) The first midterm exam is set on Wednesday, 13 Sep, during the usual class time.
- (9/1) The direct product of vector spaces U and W, of dimensions r and s respectively, should have dimension r+s. A basis should look like {(u_i, 0), (0, w_j) } with i between 1 and r and j between 1 and s. (Please email me if there is any question.)
- (8/30) The scanned pdf of Gaussian elimination.
- (8/3) This is an honors, PhD-track class and requires
permission code, which can be requested easily at
mathematics department homepage.
