MATH 1170 - Mathematics for Life Scientists

EXAM POLICY: There will be four exams and one comprehensive final. The
lowest exam grade will be dropped, but it is highly advised that you take
all exams. Since one exam grade is dropped, no make-up exams will be given
except for extraordinary circumstances (i.e. medical reasons with a note
from a doctor, etc.) If you miss a test by accident, work schedule conflicts,
travel plans, etc. that test must be used as the one which is dropped.
Each exam will be 50 minutes long. A calculator and the text book will be
allowed during the exam. No notes may be used.
HOMEWORK POLICY: Homeworks will be due in class every Wednesday
morning. 10% per day will be deducted from late homework scores.
LAB ASSIGNMENTS: If you miss a computer lab (for a good reason),
that lab assignment will be dropped from your grade. Otherwise, the assignment
can be downloaded off the website and done on your own time. This is NOT
recommended as you will not have the assistance of the TA.
FINAL
GRADES:
3 Exams*: 15 % each (45% total)
Homeworks: 15%
Lab Assignments: 15%
Final: 25%
*4 exams will
be given, but the lowest score will be dropped.
