Textbook: Partial Differential Equations and Boundary
Value Problems, N. Asmar,
Prentice Hall Instructor:
Elena Cherkaev |
Course Content: The course covers chapters 1-4 and 6-7 of the textbook. We will study methods of solving boundary value problems for partial differential equations. We will discuss the wave, heat, and Laplace equations. The main tools will be separation of variables, Fourier series and Fourier transforms.
Homework: A list of assigned problems will be given at the end of every class period. The homework will be collected every week. No late homework will be accepted.
Exams: There will be three midterm exams, tentatively given on Sept. 26, Oct. 24, and Nov. 21.
Grades: 30% for the homework; 45% for three midterms;
25% for the final
Tentative Course
